Pre-Professional Program
Our Full Time Dancers train approximately 30 hours a week, Tuesday - Saturday.
In addition, Full Time Dancers have access to all the after school classes at no extra cost.
The Full Time Program is designed for the serious student wishing to pursue a career in dance. The course aims to increase, improve, and refine technique, strength, knowledge and presentation. In addition, students in the program will have the opportunity to receive private coaching, helping to build them into not only stronger technicians and dancers, but also intelligent artists, ultimately preparing the student to enter into a career with a professional ballet company. NBT’s staff are all highly qualified with professional performance experience in their field.
NBT holds an annual classical ballet production. Recent productions include Cinderella, Paquita, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake Act II & The Wizard of Oz.
This is a ballet and dance based course only. Academic studies can be continued through the Department of Distance Education or Home schooling, arranged by individual students and families. NBT will provide facilities and study time, built into the daily schedule if needed.

Auditions for Newcastle Ballet Theatre’s Pre-Professional Programs are open!
At NBT, we feel strongly that dancers learn and improve in environments where they are comfortable and supported, yet challenged. Our focus is on understanding each dancer’s goals, then helping them reach their particular and individual potential.
Our Programs are ballet based, with a strong Contemporary component, so those genres are the focus of our audition process.
Option 1 - We are happy to have dancers audition in person at our studios in Cardiff, NSW - participating in an Open Ballet class, followed by pointe work. You may also be asked to demonstrate Contemporary technique.
Option 2 - Please provide video of;
BARRE - Plies, Battement Tendu & Battement Glisse, Adage, Grand Battement
CENTRE - Battement Tendu & Pirouette, Short Adage, Petit Allegro, Grand Allegro
+ Short Contemporary Sequence (Maximum 3 minutes) OR
1 Classical Solo / Variation (Clear, Enpointe, & recent t) & 1 Contemporary Solo (clear & recent)
Option 3 - We also understand that finding studio time to film can be tricky. With that in mind, those looking to audition via video may also send footage from a recent (within a few months) Classical solo and Contemporary (or Lyrical) solo.

Part Time Program
The Part Time Program is a 2 1/2 day per week program open to Intermediate and Advanced dancers regardless of academic year, school, or studio affiliation.
This program operates in conjunction with local schools; If your academic school requires more information regarding the structure of the Part Time Program, we will be happy to speak with them.
The Part Time Program dancers have one half day of classes, a full day integrated into the Full Time Program as well as Saturdays with the Senior Level of the school. This integration is a wonderful opportunity for Part Time Program Dancers to experience and understand the demands of joining a Full Time Program.
